Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, Grand Junction, Colorado, August 15, 1962, Page 11: Mrs. Eva Pearl Sparks, the widow of John E. Sparks, died at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday in Tim' s Nursing Home following an illness of eight months. The Sparkses came to Mesa County in 1925 and farmed in the Pomona area for 10 years, then at Fruitvale for two years, before moving to Grand Junction. The family home was at 109 Belford Ave. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 1960. Mr. Sparks died Dec. 21, 1961. Mrs. Sparks was born Eva Pearl Incho at Prophetstown, Ill. on Jan. 2, 1879. She spent her early life in Iowa and was married at Ida Grove, Iowa, on Feb. 8, 1899. The couple homesteaded near Ft. Pierre, S. D. in 1906. Surviving are a son, J. Harold Sparks of Grand Junction, seven daughters, Mrs. A. T. (Marthena) Spaid; Mrs. Harold (Lela) Zimmerman, and Mrs. M. E. (Olive) Lehman, all of Grand Junction; Mrs. M. A. (Edith) Nelson of Torrance, Calif., Mrs. R. A. (Elma) Adams of Collbran, Mrs. C. C. (Ruth) Manchester of Burbank, Calif., and Mrs. R. F. (Lida) Hagner of Chico, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Martin's Chapel. The Rev. J. Kenneth Baird will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.
