Rome News-Tribune, Rome, Georgia, January 21, 2003, Page 6, Col. 4: Mrs. Anne Bowden Wilkins, age 93, of 22 Tammassee Lane, Rome, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Wilkins was born on May 26, 1909, the daughter of the late William D. Bowden and Katherine Penn Bowden. She had lived most of her life in Rome and Floyd County. Mrs. Wilkins attended and graduated from the Harbin Hospital School of Nursing in 1928. She was a Registered Nurse and also did Private Duty Nursing for many years and was a member of West Rome Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Wilkins and by two sisters, Mrs. Mildred McConnell and Ruth Lindsey. Survivors include one son, Robert D. Wilkins of Rome; one daughter-in-law, Edna Wilkins of Mobile, Ala.; three grandchildren; one niece Marcine Davis of Florida. Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Bowden Wilkins will be held at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home at 1 p.m. today with the Rev. Glynn Stone and Dr. Larry Draper officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oaknoll Chapel from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers are asked to meet at Oaknoll Chapel by 12:45 and include Raleigh Gribble, Joe Early, P. A. Postell, Henry Savage, Fred Crouch and Harold Jacks. The Lawrence Wilkins Bible Class is asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Rome baptist Church Jeremiah Project. Funeral Services for Mrs. Anne Bowden Wilkins are under the directions of Jennings Oaknoll Funeral Home, 2542 Shorter Ave., Rome.
