Donald Dean Stevens

Times-Standard, Eureka, California, Friday, April 5, 2002: Donald Dean Stevens was born April 1, 1911 to Luman and Edna Stevens. Dean was the only of 12 children to be born on his families homestead near Wilsall, Montana. Dean worked as a Brakeman for the North Western Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1976. Dean was a member for 42 years of the Northern California Horsemen Association. He loved taking horseback trips to the mountains and telling his entertaining stories around the campfire. Dean is survived by his only living sibling Nila Morrison of Bear River, now residing in Eureka. Grandchildren Adeana and husband John Rich of Graham, Wash., Linda Miller and partner Jacque Barttley of Eureka, Randy Stevens Ford and wife Patty Ford of Las Vegas. Great grandchildren Sara Thompson of Eureka, Robert Rich and Danny Martin of Graham, Wash., Christy Ford, Jeffrey Ford, Crystal and husband Nicholas MacGonegal all of Las Vegas, Nevada. Great-great-grandchlidren Rebekah Thompson, Dakota Dean Rich, Tylor Martin, Deanna and William Dean MacGonegal. Daughter-in-law Karen Stevens of Independence, Missouri and a sister-in-law Anna Stevens of Eureka. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends who all were very special to Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents Luman and Edna Stevens, six sisters and four brothers. His wife of almost 60 years Augusta Stevens. Daughter Sharon "Stevens" Miller and his son Dewight "Bunky" Stevens. Dean was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6th, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the home of his family 3213 "S" Street, Eureka. All of Dean's family and friends are invited to come and share in a celebration of his life.
