Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, officiating. Burial was in Postville cemetery. He was born in Postville in November 1920, the son of George and Rose (Reinhardt) Bursell. He had spent his entire lifetime in this community. Besides his wife he leaves a son, and his parents, all of Postville, and two sisters, Caroline of Postville, and Mary Lou, of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Schutte's Funeral home for James J. Bursell, 28, who passed away April 1. Rev. F. R. Ludwig conducted the final rites. Bursell and Rose Reinhardt Bursell, was born November 25, 1920, at Postville, and departed this life on April 1, 1949, at Postville, aged 28 years. James spent his entire life as a resident of this community. For the past nine years he was employed by C. F. Meier and Harold Eberling in connection with their stock buying activities. He was united in marriage with Viola Maxine Hammond of Littleport, Iowa, on October 6, 1943. To this union one son was born. James leaves to mourn his passing his widow; one son, James; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bursell of Postville; two sisters: Caroline Bursell of Postville and Mary Lou, Mrs. Clarence Austin, of Des Moines.
