William M. Kirkpatrick

William Kirkpatrick was born about 1837 in Jefferson County, Iowa, and lived in Glasgow, Iowa prior to the Civil War. He married Rachel E. Taylor, daughter of William and Mary Hannah Taylor in Jefferson County on 16 April 1861, and had two daughters. William joined the Union Army, enlisting in Company G, 30th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He died of disease, 12 March 1863 on the steamer "Nashville". His widow Rachel later married Daniel Vorhies.
