In 1869* he moved to Texas coming to Denton on June 7. He had lived in Denton county continuously since. His wife died in 1891. Nine children were born to them, only three of whom are living--Mrs. C. S. Wilkins of Lewisville, Dr. D. F. Kirkpatrick of Lewisville and Mrs. John B. Turpen of this city.
All his children were with him at the time of death. Mrs. Wilkins had been summoned earlier in the week and dr. Kirkpatrick, who had been here earlier in the week also, but had to return home on account of his practice, arrived at midnight Wednesday.
Funeral services were held at the Turpen home at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning, conducted by Rev. Theo Estell and the Confederate Veterans' camp, of which he was a member.
