Chester Cecil Parrott

The Oak Ridger, Oak Ride, Tennessee, Thursday, February 20, 2003: Chester Cecil Parrott, 87, of Corbin, Ky., died early Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 1, 1915, in Little Richland, Ky., he was the son of James and Matilda Blanton Parrott. He was a retired L&N Railroad machinist and a 50-year member of Hugh Harris Masonic Lodge No. 938, F&AM, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Corbin. He is survived by his son, Dr. James Parrott, and wife, Phyllis, of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, James Chester Parrott, and wife, Rachel, of Durham, N.C., William David Parrott of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Virginia Snipp and husband, Scott, of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jacob Snipp; brother-in-law, Albert McVey and wife, Ruby, of Louisville, Ky.; and other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Ruth McVey Parrott. Members of Hugh Harris Masonic Lodge No. 938, F&AM, will conduct a Masonic service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home, 1011 Master St., Corbin, Ky.
The funeral will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Huff Sr., William John David Parrott, James Chester Parrott, Eddie Tipton Jr., Albert McVey Jr., Herbert Eaton and Scott Snipp. Honorary pallbearers will be John Paul Campbell, David L. Campbell, Loyd Campbell, Less Hill and Albert McVey. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the funeral Saturday at the funeral home.The family requests that memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 720 Browning Acres Road, Corbin, KY 40701.
