The Oak Ridger, Oak Ridge, Tennessee,Tuesday, July 15, 1997: Thelma Ruth McVey Parrott, 80, of Corbin, Ky., died Sunday, July 13, 1997, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin following a massive stroke. Mrs. Parrott's son, James A. Parrott, M.D., and his wife, Phyllis Ann Parrott, are Oak Ridge residents. She was the daughter of Ancil and Grace McGee McVey. Mrs. Parrott had retired after 40 years as a beautician. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Corbin. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by her husband of 59 1/2 years, Chester Parrott; a brother, Albert McVey and his wife, Ruby, of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Virginia Ruth "Gina" Snipp and her husband, Scott, and James Chet, all of Lexington, Ky., and William Parrott of Oak Ridge; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Anne Snipp; a niece, Jackie Adkins; and two nephews, Albert McVey Jr., and Eddie Tipton. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home in Corbin with the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Corbin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight, July 15, and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
