The Bryan Times, Bryan, Ohio, July 13, 2006: SARASOTA, Fla. - Norman Adell "Mac" McGowen, 83, of Sarasota, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at Tidwell Hospice Palliative Care in Sarasota. Born in Dudley, Mo., he moved to Sarasota in 1985 from Montpelier, Ohio. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater of operations as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was also a train dispatcher for the Wabash Railroad and the Norfolk and Western Railway and a member of the Park View Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Geneva of Sarasota; sons, Norman Jr. of Council Grove, Kansas, Monte of Sunbury, Ohio, and Randy of Sarasota; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Leona McGowen and his daughter, Brenda. Veterans Funeral Care, Inc. in Clearwater is in charge of arrangements. www.veteransfuneralcare.com.
