Green Franklin Wilkins, 71, died at the residence on the Kingston Road today at 4:30 a.m. following an extended illness. Mr. Wilkins was born in Calhoun, Sept. 30, 1880, son of the late Green and Nannie Aycock Wilkins, and had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 1914. He was associated with the Georgia Power Company as street car and bus operator until 1938 when he retired due to ill health. Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Gertrude Harper, to whom he was married May 1, 1904; one son, Lawrence Wilkins; a grandson, Bobby Wilkins, both of Rome; two brothers, Farris of Oklahoma, and Delma Wilkins, Sugar Valley. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Dykes creek Baptist Church with the Rev. C. T. Gresham, pastor and the Rev. Luther Porter, of Cartersville officiating. Interment will be in East View Cemetery. The body will be carried to the residence this afternoon to lie in state until time for funeral services. Active pallbearers will include Henry Meadows, Grady Proctor, Frank Jackson, Dartie Wooten, J. M. Brown, and L. P. Sims. Members of the transportation department of the Georgia Power Company and O. R. Garrett, will service as honorary escort.
