Nancy Lorraine Hosier
(3 Nov 1929 - 2 May 2004)
Santa Cruz County Sentinel, Santa Cruz, California, May 10, 2004: Our Mother, Our Mentor, Our Best Friend. Nancy L. Crafton, the most loving mom, wife, and woman in this world left us quietly in her sleep early Sunday morning on May 2, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harold L. Crafton Sr., 4 children, Pamela L. Wilson-Ferraro of Redding, CA., Linda L. Ayers, Wayne L. Wilson, and Glade M. Wilson, all of Santa Cruz. She is also survived by one very special loving daughter-in-law, Donna Wilson, 4 step-children, the oldest son being Harold Crafton II, two brothers, Edward L. Hosier, & Louis Hosier both of northern California, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy was born in Santa Cruz on November 3, 1929 and was a fourth generation of 6 native Santa Cruz generations. She was a woman of many talents and made beautiful things from redwood, dolls from apples with incredible hand made clothing, and wrote beautiful poetry. She even drove an 18 wheeler with her husband Harold, and carried a class 1 license. She was a member of the Western Cherokee Nation and carried roll number 15725 and was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. Mom also had a very special love of the redwoods and spent time "tagging along" behind her father, as he made his living from the giant redwood trees she loved so. Her father and his brother ran the Santa Cruz Burlery for years. She referred to the woods as "Gods Country". Our mom was a person who always tried to fix everything for every single one of us. She lived her life for others, all her life. She was the oldest of 7 and raised her brothers and sisters and then 8 children with Harold. She lived her life for her children and along the way touched the lives of all who met her! She was the matriarch of not only her immediate family, but also to all extended families. Mom was a giving, loving, one of a kind, person with strength, courage, compassion and unconditional love, which she bestowed upon each and everyone of her children. She left us so very much as she left us her heart and soul for the rest of our lives. May God have a very special place for you mama, we will hold you close in our hearts forever and a day! Oceans of Love With A Kiss on Every Wave! We’ll always remember those words!
