Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, December 10, 1963, Page 4, Col. 4: Dewey Brown Died After A Heart Attack. Dewey Grant Brown, 63 year old well known life-long resident of Poplar Bluff and Butler County, died suddenly following a heart attack at his home in the Sunset Hills Subdivision at 6 last night. Mrs. Brown found him in the back yard of their home after he had gone to a nearby residence for some plants. Coroner Grover Greer's office said he had been dead about an hour when found. Brown, a former service station operator and farmer, had been employed in recent years a salesman for the Holloway Insurance and Real Estate Company. He and his wife were in the process of moving to a new home at 812 Sutton Drive. Born in Butler County, August 7, 1900, he had resided in the county all his life. He and Myrtle Hamm were married December 4, 1920. She died in 1930 [1928]. Four children born to this union survive. They are Charles B. Brown and Buster Brown of Poplar Bluff, Thomas E. Brown of Point Comfort, Texas and Mrs. Virginia Fenn of Tampa, Florida. Mr. Brown and Ruth Inman were married July 11, 1931. Mrs. Brown and a half sister, Mrs. Neema Porter of Detroit, Michigan also survive. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church and American Legion. Funeral plans are incomplete today. The body will be in state at the Frank-Cotrell Chapel after 6 tonight.
