He married in South Carolina about 1849-50 to Julia Ann Johnsey, daughter of James F. and nancy (Conn) Johnsey. She was born December 1829 in South Carolina. They moved about 1856 to Jefferson County, Alabama, perhaps at the same time that his brother James made the same move. In 1900 she was living with her grandson, Lafayette B. Kirkpatrick in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. There were 4 children of the marriage.
