Elden Duane Rabuck
(20 Mar 1930 - 8 Feb 2014)
Posted at findagrave.com: Elden Duane Rabuck, of Blackfoot, stepped into Glory, Saturday, February 8, 2014. Born in Darien, Wisconsin to Joseph Orville Rabuck and Lena Ester Clason on March 20, 1930. After graduation with his class of 12 students at Darien High School, he served in the U.S. Army. During his service he was deployed to the Korean War as an ambulance driver/medic. Upon returning from the conflict he met and married Mary Lois Whitlock in Beloit, Wisconsin on March 27, 1953. To this union were born 5 children, Steven Brian (Penny), Ronald Allen (Carol), Regina Sue (Rick) Lenz, Marlys Ann Wilson and Patricia Lynn (Curtis) Edwards. Many of his grandchildren will fondly remember "Grandpa" making the "Best Ramen noodles ever!" Some would even walk all the way across town to have him make them for lunch. His secret ingredient was Love. As a child he was raised in the Pentecostal Church. Upon moving to Blackfoot he attended Faith Christian Center and later Father's House. Being raised in this manner he learned to love music. He was a talented singer and sang on the radio, live in the 1940s. Fulfilling his dream to live in the Rocky Mountain area, Elden took a job in Pocatello at Bucyrus Erie as a machinist and moved his family to Blackfoot in 1976. His co-workers knew him as "Stub" or "Stubby", because he used to smoke cigars and was always seen with a stub in his mouth. After the plant closure in 1982 he worked at Farmer Jack/Gorman's as well as Blackfoot School District #55 and Anderson/Stock Lumber. He and Mary later divorced and he later met and married G. Kay Moser in September of 1998. Kay brought two grown sons Darrell (Sue) Moser and David (Heather) Moser and 7 grandchildren. For the past year he was a resident of the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello where his was loved and cared for by a fantastic staff and many volunteers, with respect and admiration for his past service. Waiting for him in Heaven were his parent, sisters Evelyn Lucille and Edith M; brothers Francis Albert, Gaylord Arthur, Joseph Edwin ‘Eddie", and Howard Dale (silent birth); and most recently his oldest son Steven Brian. Memorial services will be held at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Saturday February 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., where military rites will be performed. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com.
