Adolph Smith "A. S." Clason

Bill Bennett, Furnas County Sheriff, released the following news release. A. S. Clason's body was found south of Beaver City on Saturday afternoon by two hunters. Investigation was made by the Furnas County Sheriff's Department.

Mr. Clason, age 77, resided at Stamford. He had been missing from his home since January 5. A search was made for the pickup he was driving and it was found Sunday morning approximately one-half miles south and one-half mile east of where the body was found.

A search was made on the ground Sunday morning due to the heavy fog in the area. At 1:00 P.M. the fog lifted and Sheriff Bill Bennett and Deputy Sheriff Clay Kuersteiner were able to do an air search. Mr. Clason had got his pickup stuck and had apparently started to walk for assistance.

Cause of Death, as determined by an autopsy, was attributed to the weather, with temperatures 5 and 18 degrees for a low. Funeral services were held on Thursday in Long Island, at the Methodist Church, with interment in the Long Island Cemetery. Survivors include brothers--Horace of Washington and Lewis of California; sister---Catherine Bebb of California, Iris Burton and Shirley Cammer of Oregon and Ruth Rupp of Norton.
