Fergus Falls Daily Journal, Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Tuesday, September 18, 2001: Herbert "Herb" Gotfred Olson, 79, of Moorhead, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fargo. He was born on May 29, 1922, in Sidney, Mont., the son of Otto and Neva May (Herbert) Olson. He grew up and received his educatoin in Montana, and later moved with his family to the Underwood area. During WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served overseas in the Pacific Theatre of war as a radio operator. Following his discharge in 1945, he returned to Montana to live. On May 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dolores Mohr in Perham. They lived in Libby, Mont., Perham, Detroit Lakes and Hillsboro, N.D. before making their home in Fargo in 1967. In 1968, the family moved to Moorhead, where they have lived since. Mr. Olson worked as a bookeeper and office manager for Miller Sheet Metal and Plumbing until retiring in 1983. Following retirement, he worked part-time for a local alarm company, at Hector Airport and Lake Agassiz Regional Library in Moorhead. For the past three years, the couple has lived at Parkview Terrace in Moorhead. He is survived by his wife Dolores of Moorhead; four sons, Marvin and Donald (Barb), both of Fargo, Ray (Kelly) of Akron, Ohio, and Michael (Sonya) of Fridley; two daughters, Marvine Olson of Fergus Falls and Marilyn (Doug) Mohr of Churchville, Maryland; a brother Harvey (Gerry) Olson of Perham; three sisters, Mabel Brown of Salem, Ore. and Marion Hoff and Evelyn Halliburton, both of Fergus Falls; and four grandchildren, Anthony and Jacob Mohr, Alexandra Olson, and Amy Tollefsrud. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead Funeral Home: Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead.
