Posted at findagrave.com: Funeral services for Harvey George Olson, 80, of Perham, MN, will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, on Monday, January 24, 2005, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Terry Grzybowski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2005, as well as one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Harvey died at MeritCare Medical Health System, Fargo, ND, on Thursday, January 20, 2005. Harvey was born June 21, 1924, in Andes, Montana, to Otto and Neva May (Herbert) Olson and was the next to the youngest of seven children. He married Geraldine Amanda Bormann of Ottertail, MN, on September 14, 1953. They had three children, Norman, Ronny and Paul. Harvey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict constructing buildings at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey and installing telephone communications along the railroad in Alaska. After marriage, Harvey and Geraldine settled in Perham. They were long-time members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham where he sang in the choir and served on the church council and as an usher. He got to know many people in the area when he worked as a farm implement mechanic for Knuttila's Implement and Marine. It was often said that he could start and maintain a conversation with anyone whether he knew them or not. Harvey finished his work years at Tuffy's Pet Foods in Perham. To the many people who knew him, Harvey was regarded as one of the most inventive people they had ever met. He often created unique items around the shop and at home. Surviving Harvey is his wife, Geraldine, of Perham, MN, sons, Norman (Rebecca) of San Diego, CA, Ronny (Marlyn) of Wilmington, DE and Paul (Gina) of Benton, AR; three grandchildren, Aaron, Jessica and David; two grandchildren by marriage, Alyssa and Zachery Schlonga and three sisters, Marion Hoff (husband Orwell, deceased) and Evelyn Halliburton (husband Lue, deceased) both of Fergus Falls, and Mabel Brown (husband Les, deceased) of Salem, OR. Preceding Harvey in death were his parents; two sisters, Hazel and Margaret and one brother, Herbert.
