Rockdale Reporter and Messenger, Rockdale, Texas, Thursday, November 24, 1960, Page 7, Col. 7: Thomas E. Evard Dies Last Week At Minerva Home. Thomas Edward Evard, 77, died the past week at his home near Minerva, following an extended illness.

He was a native of Milam county, and on December 27, 1908, was married to Miss Bessie Aycock of Cameron. She died several years ago. Evard was a member of the Methodist church of Milano. Funeral services for him were held from the Phillips and Luckey Chapel in Rockcastle Friday afternoon with the Rev. John Edgar officiating. Burial was in the Minerva cemetery.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. John Lawhon of Minerva; and two grandsons, Airman John T. Lawhon, U. S. Navy [Air Force ?] stationed at Moffett Field, California and Samuel E. Lawhon of Minerva and a number of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Joe Tomerlin, Truett Lee, Buster Gore, Paul A. Jenkins, Nig Moody, Otto Whiteley.
