He was born July 15, 1909, in Fernie, B.C., and lived in Vancouver more than 50 years. His first wife, Alma A. Flansburg, died in 1980. Mr. Flansburg was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Southwest Washington Retired Teachers Association and a charter member of the Greater Vancouver Kiwanis Club. Mr. Flansburg was named Citizen of the Year in 1979, and in 1991 the American Association of Retired Persons gave him an award for Outstanding Service to the Community. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, at home; one daughter, Rose Marie Nack of Osage, Iowa; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
