William Lemmon Jr.
(1744 - 30 Mar 1809)
William, Jr. settled first in Cumberland Co., then Westmoreland Co., PA. William built a log structure that is still standing in Fairfield Township, PA. It had a ladder to the second story that could be drawn up at night as a protection against Indians. He married Martha Adams, the daughter of Martha and Thomas Adams, Jr. William died in 1808* and Martha in 1812. Both are buried in the lower left hand corner of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Cemetery in Westmoreland Co., PA. According to Robert Lemon's Revolutionary War pension application, William acted as a spy between American and British forts during the war. He was 2nd Lt for his unit. - Cindi Schmerber, July 2002.
