Seymour Daily Tribune, September 11, 1972, Page 8, Col. 5: H. L. Pottschmidt Dies---Rites Set Thursday. Henry L. Pottschmidt, 46, of Seymour R2, president of H. L. Pottschmidt Construction co., died at 9:20 a.m. today at his home. He had been ill for about one year. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was born Feb. 14, 1926 to Lawrence and Carrie Otte Pottschmidt, who survive. On July 31, 1949, in Seymour, he married the former Dorothy Toenjes, who also survives. Mr. Pottschmidt was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church here and a member of the church choir. He also had been a member of the Sunday school teaching staff at the church for over 20 years. An avid pilot, he was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Survivors in addition to the widow and parents include three children, Gordon H. Pottschmidt, attending Purdue University of Lafayette, and Brenda Louise and Thomas L. Pottschmidt, both at home and two brothers, Ervin Pottschmidt of Seymour and Gerald Pottschmidt of Seymour R2. Funeral services for Mr. Pottschmidt will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ottis L. Sauls, pastor, officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Voss Mortuary after 7 p.m. Tuesday until Wednesday night and at the church Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until time of services. The family asks that memorials be designated for the Redeemer building fund or the Lutheran Hour.
