Obituary courtesy of Burkholder Funeral Chapel: Dorothy Mae Pottschmidt, 80, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at her home on November 7, 2010 at 10:35 a.m. Dorothy was born on February 26, 1930, in Seymour, the daughter of John M. and Lillian M. Vahl Toenjes. She was a 1948 graduate of Shields High School and was married to Henry L. Pottschmidt, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Seymour, on July 31, 1949. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for H. L. Pottschmidt Construction for 25 years and for Midway Supply, until her retirement in 1980. Dorothy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and was a past member of the church choir. She loved the Lord and enjoyed quilting, working crossword puzzles, watching game shows, the beauty of butterflies and especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by 2 sons; Gordon H. Pottschmidt, of Seymour and Thomas L. Pottschmidt, of Indianapolis, a daughter, Brenda Kleinberg, of Farmington, MO, a brother; John Toenjes, of Deland, FL, a sister; Esther (Jon) Dechow, of Portola Valley, CA., 5 grandchildren; Charlie Bochantin and Donovan Kleinberg, both of Farmington, MO, Ryan Pottschmidt, of West Lafayette, IN, Andrew Pottschmidt, of Indianapolis, and Sarah Pottschmidt, of Seymour. Her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Marvin, Richard and Melvin Toenjes and a sister, Mary Benitz preceded her in death.
