Magowan, 87, of 562 Keystone, resident of the village for almost 30 years, died Friday morning, May 29. The daughter of Harvey S. Sutcliff* and Carolyn Langdon Sutcliff*, Iowa pioneers. Mrs. Magowan was born August 26, 1865, in a log cabin in Cedar Township, Johnson County, Iowa. She was married on July 13, 1887, to Professor Charles S. Magowan, who preceded her in death in 1907. Coming to Oak Park in 1925, Mrs. Magowan was, until her health failed, active in Infant Welfare and in the Women's Circle of Pilgrim Congregational church. Her membership in PEO covered a period of 64 years. During her residence in Illinois she was a member of Chapter BI. She is survived by one son, Donald, of Springfield, and three daughters---Miss Florence and Miss Jeannette Magowan, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Ruth M. Kirkpatrick of Cedar Falls, Iowa, as well as two grandson, Kenneth and Donald Magowan, and two granddaughters, Marilyn Magowan and Mary Ann Kirkpatrick. Services on Sunday afternoon were conducted from Postlewait's chapel by the Rev. Fred Hoskins, with burial in Oakland cemetery at Iowa City, Iowa, where Dr. L. L> Dunnington officiated.
