Malcom Richard MacDonald

Malcom Richard MacDonald, 84, died of pneumonia Thursday at St. Francis Care Center in Spokane, Wash. Cremation Society of Washington in Spokane is handling arrangements. Inurnment will be private. Mr. MacDonald, who was born in Riverside, lived here for 28 years until he moved to Spokane eight years ago. He was an Episcopal priest for 25 years. He was rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Riverside from 1961 until 1967. After retiring from that post, he was a part-time vicar at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cambria until 1978. Before World War II, he was a salesman at Riverside Cement. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of lieutenant. Mr. MacDonald earned a master's degree in theology from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Conn., in 1952. He also graduated from the University of Southern California in 1934 with a bachelor of arts degree. He is survived by his wife, Frances; two daughters, Heather Svika of Riverside and Kathleen Malinedez of Spokane; two sons, John MacDonald of Calipatria and the Rev. David MacDonald of Shreveport, La.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
