Hazel B. Sheard, 92, of Omaha, NE formally of Sioux City passed away peacefully in the arms of her family on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Omaha. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Tim Bonney officiating. Hazel was born January 26, 1923 in East Troy, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Caroline (Mueller) Clason. She married Herbert Sheard on July 4, 1942 in Burlington, WI and preceded her in death on February 14, 1999 in Sioux City. Hazel was an extremely caring and giving person, always putting other’s needs before her own. She was recognized with a special volunteer award from the Goodwill Industries for her many hours of service. She loved flowers, camping, playing cards, and spending time with her family. If ever lost in Walmart, you could always find her in the candy aisle (Hersey’s Kisses were her favorite) or in the greeting cards aisle trying to find just the right card. Hazel also loved playing Angry Birds and Candy Crush on her tablet. Survivors include her daughters: Susan Beekman of Omaha and Judith (Donald) Taschner of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; grandchildren: Desiree (Mike) Troia and their children Koby and Cameron and Chris (Jeanette) Beekman and their children Jason, Hannah, and Emilee; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew Bill (Inger) Whitmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert, brothers Elmer and Ralph, sisters Ruth and Ferne, and a son-in-law Paul Beekman.
