Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church for William Roy Ponder who died Sunday in the Lucy Lee Hospital at Poplar Bluff where he had been a patient the past three weeks. The Rev. Luster Young conducted the services and burial was in the Amity Cemetery under the direction of the Edwards Funeral Home. Mr. Ponder, a retired carpenter, was born March 5, 1893, in this county where he has lived most of his life. On June 26, 1932, he married Miss Bertha Jackson, who survives. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Betty Edington, Poplar Bluff, Mrs. Bonnie Allen, Hopkinsville, Ky., Mrs. Isabelle Gruver and Mrs. Billie Dunn both of Amarillo, Tex.; two sons, Tom of Pittsburgh, Pa., and D. H. Ponder of Amarillo, Tex.; a brother, Fred of Amarillo, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Zetta Featherston, Doniphan; Mrs. Lillie Huson, Anaheim, Calif.; and Mrs. Jewell Deen of Wall Lake, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
