Robert H. Frenchman
(16 Feb 1945 - 2 Mar 2016)
Published in The Record/Herald News on Mar. 5, 2016: Frenchman, Robert H., born February 16, 1945, passed away on March 2, 2016. Mr. Frenchman spent his life in advertising and was the founder and President of D&L Advertising and Design Group for 42 years before retiring in 2013. He leaves his wife Miriam, his daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Scott Kissel, his grandchildren Emma and Austin Kissel, his wonderful cousins Kenny and Gail Frenchman and a second daughter Lori Frenchman. Bob bore a lifetime of health issues, one of which was kidney disease that began at the age of four. He was enrolled on an experimental program called ACTH at Passavant Memorial Hospital in Chicago under the care of Dr. Edith Farnsworth along with 12 other children. After nearly five years in the hospital, Bob was the only one to survive the program and was the oldest living survivor of this ACTH program in the world. Every steroid that is taken for granted today and used by millions of people around the world came from the ACTH program and the endurance and survival for so many years this man endured. Mr. Frenchman's mother, Rose Frenchman was one of the founders of what is know today as the National Kidney Foundation in the United States.
Bob wants to mention Susan Sciarra, his closest personal friend, who in the year 2000 donated a kidney to him that prolonged his life for so many years after losing the function of both kidneys in 1997. Bob's dad, Morton Frenchman, returning from a business trip in 1949 happened upon an article in Life Magazine about the Farnsworth experimental program which led to Bob getting in to the program and ultimately helping millions benefit from all the drugs that were produced and delivered to patients all these years. Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 1::15 P.M. in the B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2600 Route 22 East, Union, N.J. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6, from 2-4 P.M. and then again on Monday, March 7, beginning at 11 A.M. in the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston, N.J.
