St. Joseph News-Press, St. Joseph, Missouri, March 28, 1942, Page 2, Col. 5: Cameron Man Dies in Hospital Here. Lavern Rummage, 23-year-old feed mill worker of Cameron, Mo., died yesterday afternoon shortly before 5 o'clock in a hospital here of a skull fracture and other head injuries received earlier in the afternoon when he was struck by a machine belt. It is believed that Rummage was attempting to put the belt back into place on a grinding machine at the Fiddick Feed and Fuel Company at Cameron when it slipped and struck him. The man was thrown violently and his head struck either the machinery or the floor. Rummage was taken to the hospital in Poland's ambulance and died a short time after being admitted. His wife, Mrs. Lola Mae Rummage, and his parents survive him. The body was returned to Cameron.
