The Victoria Advocate, Victoria, Texas,Wednesday, May 10, 2000, Page 10 A: Bay City -- Melba Cox, 86, of Bay City, and formerly of Kenedy, died Sunday, May 7, 2000. She was born Feb. 1, 1914, in Choate, to the late Will and Mattie Shaw Yeater. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was valedictorian of the Kenedy High School class of 1931 and attended Texas A&I University where she earned her teaching certificate. Survivors: daughters, Dorothy Sykes of Houston and Sharon Morgan of Midland; son, Jim Cox of Bay City; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, George Cox; parents. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
