Lavern Arnold Shepard

From Marquette County Tribune (Westfield, WI) November 8, 2001: Lavern "Charming" Shepard. Lavern Arnold "Charming" Shepard, age 72 years of Westfield, died on Monday, October 2001 at home. He was born on February 2, 1929 in Madison, the son of Alverdo and Mable (Brange) Shepard. He drove school bus, worked as a janitor at Dean Clinic and also was a track driver for Winga Stone, all of Madison. He then owned and operated the Northern Bar in Harrisville for a number of years. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, watching football and especially going to his favorite "watering hole' the Happy Tap in Westfield to play cards and converse with people. He is survived by four children, Terry (Carol) Shepard, Westfield, Tonya (friend Dale) Schwanke, Westfield, Randy (Darlene) Shepard, New Hampshire and Liza (Guy) Schweiz, Tripoli, WI; a son-in-law, Dave Schwanke, Westfield, Six grandchildren Scotty and Shaun, Schwanke, Taran Shepard, Jodie and Randi Schweiz and Brittany Shepard; one great-grandchild Brittany Schwanke. He is further survived by other relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lyle Shepard. A memorial visitation will be held at the Steinhaus Funeral Home in Westfield from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2001. Following the visitation friends are invited to the Happy Tap Bar in Westfield for refreshments and fellowship. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his family for designation at a later date.
