"Slim" Houchin, 81, of Patterson died Tuesday at his home. Mr. Houchin was a native of Kentucky. He lived in Patterson five years. He was a building contractor. He was a member of Federated Church of Patterson and Patterson Masonic Lodge 488. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. [His] children, Rory Houchin of Chico, Joel Houchin of San Jose, Pelham Houchin II of Modesto and Timothy Houchin of Ben Lomond; brothers, Ambrose Houchin of Lexington, Ky., Medley Houchin of Santa Clara and Bruce Houchin of Richmond, Ind.; sisters, Rhetta Mountjoy of Lawrenceberg, Ky., and Anna Kirchner of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Los Gatos Cemetery Chapel, San Jose. A graveside service will follow at Los Gatos Cemetery. A funeral service will be conducted at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Patterson. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 today at the chapel.
