He was preceded by two brothers, Charles and Jerry Phelps. He is survived by his wife, two children and their spouses and offspring, and a brother Harry (Illene) Phelps of Delton.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005.

Bill was born February 25, 1927 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Harry and Lenna (Burgart) Phelps and was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 43 years at the James River Paper Company. He loved being with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending car shows with his son Tim and flying airplanes with his daughter Nancy. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Jerry Phelps. Surviving are 2 sons and 1 daughter, Dan (Pat) Phelps of California, Nancy Fish Stone and husband Bill of Kalamazoo and Tim "Bruno" Phelps of Portage; 5 grandchildren, Denise Spring, Stacey Wolthuis, Brian Ladkrood, Timothy Phelps II and Jamie Hog-Lund; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Harry (Ilene) Phelps of Delton; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A lasting memorial in Bill's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. www.langelands.com
