From the Ten Generation List by Marjorie Ham Briggs: In Wales, name was spelled Rees, but in U. S. had so much trouble with their mail, because so many by that name in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, that Richard Jenkin Rees added "e" to name and it has never been removed.
In the booklet Rees Heritage Celebration, June 23, 2001, it states the Richard Reese family sailed on the SS Wisconsin from Liverpool and Queenstown on August 3, 1887.

Reese, a miner, aged 77 years, died yesterday afternoon at 5:05 o'clock at his home on route 2 after having lived in this county since 1889. He leaves his wife, Gwen; four sons and five daughters, William L. Reese, 208 West Park avenue; John L. Reese, Ottawa, Kas.; Thomas D. Reese, St. Louis, Mo.; Ivor E. Reese, Kansas City, Mo.; Miss Hannah M. Reese, Miss Mary J. Reese and Miss Cora E. Reese, all at home; Mrs. Orville Briggs, 413 West Adams avenue, and Mrs. Mae R. Holman, at home; also fourteen grand children. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of the daughters: Mrs. Orville Briggs, 413 West Adams avenue.
