The Ukiah Daily Journal, Ukiah, California, Sunday, March 31, 2002: Ethel Mae Smith. A Funeral will be held for Ethel Mae Smith, of Ukiah, at 1 p.m. Monday, at Eversole Mortuary. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. through the service. Mrs. Smith died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Bird City, Kan. She was 93. She was born March 26, 1909, in Ukiah and was a resident of this area for 35 years. Mrs. Smith was a retired nurse and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by a son, George and Betty Jean Smith of Brookings, Ore.; brother Glenn and Goldie Shaffer of Ukiah; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Jess, and by her great grandson Nicholas. Memorial donations can be made to one's favorite charity.
