Obituary from The South Bend Tribune, April 8, 1953: George M. Barrett, Logansport, formerly of 719 Lindsay St., South Bend, died in Logansport Monday evening. He was born in Hastings, Michigan and came to South Bend 40 years ago from hastings. His wife, Clara, died several years ago and he is survived only by nieces and nephews. While a resident of South Bend, he was a distributor for the Holland Furnace Co., and at one time, he and his wife operated the Barrett Barbeque on Lincoln Way West. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home where services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday Rev. Almon J. Coble, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
