Obituary from an unknown Seminole, Oklahoma newspaper on March 26, 1991: Mercedes K. Cowan. Funeral services for Mercedes Kathryn Cowan, 76, were held today at Swearingen Chapel. Rev. Robert W. Jackson officiated. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Cowan died Sunday at Seminole Municipal Hospital. She was born April 5, 1914 in Henryetta. She was a 1933 graduate of Muskogee School for the Blind. She moved to Seminole County in 1972 from Tulsa, where she was a store owner. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Assembly of God Church. Was was married to Ernie Cowan, who died Aug. 6, 1981. Survivors include one brother, Jack Gordon, El Dorado, Kans. and tow nephews, Mark Gordon El Dorado and Steve Hoover, Tulsa. Pallbearers will be Joe and Steve Hoover, Mark Gordon, Lonnie Berry, Joe Brown and Phil Grassleon.
