Mount Pleasant News, Monday, November 16, 1931, Page 3, Cols. 1-4: Funeral Rites For Mrs. Roy Lee. Rites Held At First Methodist Church to New London Sunday. Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Lee were conducted from the First Methodist Episcopal church in New London Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. They were in charge of her pastor R. V. Pike who was assisted to Rev. C. B. Rayhill of New London. The Hymns were sung by members of the Beulah M. E. church choir. The pall bearers were the sons of the family. Messers Virgil W., Ralph W., Bert R., Kenneth M. Lee, Douglas Quayle and Dwight Mathews. She was laid to rest in the New London cemetery. Fannie Alletia (Powers) Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Powers, was born at Fishook, Ill., Sept. 14th, 1876 and passed away at her home 4 1/2 miles northwest of New London, Wednesday evening Nov. 11, 1931, aged 55 years, 1 month and 28 days. She moved with her parents to Augusta, Ill, when she was but a child. She was converted to Christ in the Billy Sunday meetings at Galesburg, Illinois, where she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She transferred her membership to the Beulah Methodist church during the pastorate of Rev. W. S. Moore, of which church she remained a member until her death. She entered the Burlington hospital for nurses training in 1909 completing her course in 1913. She was united in marriage with Roy V. Lee on May 11th 1915. She took her place in the home with the care and responsibility of a member to the family of six children. Mrs. Lee had been in failing health for more than two years past. She had suffered greatly from a complication of disorders and several times she had suffered serious attacks from which she recovered as from death itself. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, who has devotedly given her every possible attention almost day and night; her step-children, Virgil W. and Ralph W. of New London, Iowa, Mrs. Viva Marie Quayle of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Bert R. and Kenneth M. at home, Mrs. Laura Amelia Mathews of Mt. Union; also two sister, Mrs. Retta Rampe and Mrs. Hattie Suttle both of Los Angeles, Calif. besides a large circle of other relatives and sympathetic friends and neighbors.
