Mount Please News, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Tuesday, September 2, 1969, Page 6, Col. 6: Roy Virgil Lee, 88, of Burlington, retired farmer, formerly of New London, died August 30 at St. Francis Hospital in Burlington. He was born May 31, 1881 at New London, the son of Green and Jennie Stafford Lee. On January 21, 1903 in New London he was married to Maude Wilson, who predeceased him February 21, 1914. On February 21, 1933 he was married at Monmouth, Ill., to Minnie Beyer, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Virgil Lee of Tucson, Ariz., Ralph Lee of Lafayette, Ind., and Kenneth Lee of Carlisle, two daughters, Mrs. Viva Quayle of Davenport, Mrs. Laura Mathews of Winfield, one stepson, Kenneth Beyer of Burlington; 24 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Four brothers, one sister and a son are deceased. Mr. Lee was a member of the Beulah Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, at the Elliott Chapel in New London. Rev. Gerald Rosenberger will officiate. Interment will be in Burge cemetery. Friends may call at the Elliott Chapel Tuesday evening.
