Las Vegas Review-Journal, Thursday, December 24, 1987: Thorval "Pete" M. Garner, 72, died Monday in a local hospital. He was a 50 year resident of Pahrump. A retired police chief and 30 year veteran of the North Las Vegas Police Department, he was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Broken Arrow, Okla., and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Pahrump; sons Tim, Pat and Pete, all of Gainesville, Ga.; mother Sylvia; brothers, Dean and Bill; and sister, JoAnn Pugh all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Bunker Mortuary. Burial will be private.
