Frederick J. Cartier

Boston Record American, Boston, Massachusetts, Wednesday, November 2, 1966, Page 13, Col. 3: Fred J. Cartier of Winthrop, Hearst Adman. Fred J. Cartier, 64, former New England manager of Pictorial Review magazine and a long-time employe of the Hearst organization, died yesterday in Winthrop Community Hospital. A native of Natick, he attended the Natick schools and Burdett College and was a graduated from Boston University. He began his newspaper career with the Boston Herald and served 35 years with the Hearst organization before his retirement in 1962. A member of the Boston Advertising Club, he had been editing its Advertising News since his retirement.

Cartier is survived by his widow, Evelyn (Curtin) Cartier; a son, Rev. Fred J. Cartier of St. Barbara's Church, Woburn; a daughter, Mrs. Janet Tomasello of Wayland, and two sisters, the Misses Alma and Irene Cartier of Natick. Cartier formerly lived in Wayland, but made his home recently at 356 Winthrop st., Winthrop. The funeral will be held from O'Maley Funeral Home in Winthrop at 8:30 a.m. Friday, with a Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Natick. burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Natick.
