The Union Democrat, Sonora, California, Tuesday, April 29, 2008: Elsie Grace Polston ---March 29, 1921 -- April 26, 2008. Sonora resident Elsie Grace Polston died April 26 at a Sonora hospital. She was 87. Mrs. Polston was born in Garden City, Mo., and moved to California in 1950. Since arriving to California, she lived mostly in the Bay Area. She lived in Hercules, Contra Costa County, for 20 years, where, at the time, she lived in one of the five houses in the town. She lived in Mendocino from 1959 to 1962 and moved to Sonora in 1997.
She was a homemaker and loved the Lord. She was a member of Richmond First Presbyterian Church and Sierra Bible Church, and was very active in both. Her husband was a minister and she worked alongside him, teaching Sunday school and Bible studies. Mrs. Polston is survived by her daughters, Jane Morgan of Sonora, and Judith Choate and her husband, Gary, of Burns, Ore.; son, James David Polston, and his wife, Betsy, of Trinity, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; cousin, Rhea Dean of Cameron Park; and another cousin and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Polston was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Calvin Polston, in March 1999; and three brothers. A service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home.Donations may be made to the Sierra Bible Church Building Fund, 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora, CA 95370. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Born on March 29, 1921 in Garden City, Mo., she was 87. Services were held April 30 at Terzich & Wilson Funeral Home, Sonora. She moved to California in 1950, living mostly in the Bay Area. She lived in Hercules, Calif., for 20 years where she was one of five Houses in town. She also lived in Mendocino for four years, from 1959 to 1962. She moved to Sonora in 1997. She loved the Lord and her churches where she was always a very active member. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Calif., and in Sonora she was a member of the Sierra Bible Church. She was active with her husband's ministries and Bible teaching. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Calvin Polston in March 1999 and by her three brothers.
