Posted at findagrave.com: Funeral services for Jennie Donaldson were held Fri., Sept. 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. The Reverend Gary Catterson officiated, assisted by the Reverend Kim Smith. Beverly Bacon was the organist and Ronald Meyer was the soloist. Casketbearers were David Sivesind, Dennis Sivesind, Jeff Brauer, Rick Frey, Wayne Schroeder, and Robert Reierson. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Grand View Cemetery at Fayette.
Jennie Adele (Frey) Donaldson, the daughter of Thomas Frey and Elsie Mae (Hosier) Frey, was born Nov. 24, 1918, in Dubuque. She passed away Tues., Sept. 4, 2001, at Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 20 days.
Jennie was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church at Guttenberg. She graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1937.
On Nov. 28, 1940, Jennie was married to Wayne LeVern Donaldson at Guttenberg. From 1942 to 1944, they lived in Sumter, SC, at the Shawfield Air Base until Wayne was sent overseas. Upon his return in 1945, they lived in Oelwein, then in Aberdeen, SD, for a time.
In 1948, the Donaldsons moved to Lansing, where Jennie worked as a homemaker and sales clerk at Kerndt Brothers and Peterson Book Store. She also worked as a librarian at the public library. In 1963, Jennie and Wayne moved to Postville, where Jennie was employed at Moore's IGA for many years. She enjoyed sewing and made most of her own clothes. Jennie also enjoyed needle work and reading. She made several prom dresses for the children of her friends and neighbors.
Jennie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne, who died Feb. 29, 2000; an infant son, James; an infant grandson, Darryl Sivesind; a sister, Virginia Stebor; a brother-in-law, Robert Stebor; and two sisters-in-law, Marcy (Tom) Frey and Alma (George) Frey.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane (Gene) Sivesind of Decorah; four grandchildren, David (Kristi) Sivesind of Racine, MN, Dennis Sivesind of Spring Valley, MN, Janene (Jeff) Brauer of Rochester, MN, and Jenny (Chad) Nelson of Akron, IN; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Kimball, Ryan and Kyle Sivesind, and Austin and Wyatt Nelson; one sister, Betty (Carl) Lierer of Hamilton, OH; and two brothers, George Frey and Thomas Frey, both of Dubuque.
