Telegraph Herald, Dubuque, Iowa, Wednesday, January 9, 2002: George A. Frey, 84, of 1742 Delhi St., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at The Finley Hospital. Private family services will be held at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. He was born on Oct. 4, 1917, in Dubuque, son of Thomas and Elsie (Hosier) Frey. He married Alma Veach in October 1969; she died on Feb., 11, 2000. He was a World War II veteran. He served in Europe and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star while serving in the 26th Infantry Division. After the war he worked for the Adams Co. until his retirement. Surviving are a sister, Betty Lierer, of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother; Thomas Frey, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Charlie Veach, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jennie Donaldson and Virginia Stebor. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Finley Hospital for all their care.
