Marion Richard Campbell
(14 Aug 1928 - 16 Mar 1946)
Marion Campbell Dies on Saturday from Plan Crash Injuries. Marion Campbell passed away Saturday morning in a North Platte hospital, from injuries received on Tuesday afternoon in an airplane crash. His condition had remained critical from the time of the accident and but little hope had been held for his recovery. Marion Richard Campbell was born on August 14, 1928, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Sidney E. Campbell of Gothenburg, and passed away at North Platte on March 16, 1946. "Moose" as he was affectionately known by his friends and acquaintances, was a popular member of the younger set. He was an outstanding lineman of the 1945 state championship football team of Gothenburg High School. News of his passing was a sign for sincere mourning by his many friends young and old. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the First Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. A. D. Tabor of North Platte and were largely attended. Solos were sung by Bob Williams and Mrs. A. D. Tabor, with Miss Catherine Hull as accompanist. Pallbearers were: Jim Cunning, Jim Holmes, Dale Clark, Dick Arnall, Gordon Broadbent and Kenneth Bauman. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery.
