Calhoun Times, Calhoun, Georgia, August 28, 1930: Billy Aycock Passes. William Jesse Aycock passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Gerrard [Garrard], in Atlanta, Saturday morning, the 23rd of August 1930. Billy, as he was familiarly known, was 78 years of age, born and raised in Gordon county five miles from Calhoun on the old Jesse Swain place. He was a grandson of Jesse Swain, who was one of the first settlers of Georgia. Mr. Aycock moved from Gordon county to Adairsville in 1903, and from here to Atlanta in 1909. He was a member of the Capitol Avenue Baptist church, also a deacon. The funeral was at this church Monday morning, Dr. W. H. May, his pastor, officiating. Survived by seven children; Messrs. Clyde, Clifford and Carl Aycock, all of Atlanta; Mrs. C. S. Wright, of Burkville, Ala.; Mrs. S. W. Gaines [Haines], of Gadsden, Ala.; Mrs. W. H. Gerrard [Garrard] and Mrs. Roy Carter [Collier], both of Atlanta; and one brother, John T. Aycock, of Reeves. Interment was at Salem cemetery, four miles south of Calhoun. H. M. Patterson, Atlanta, funeral director in charge.
