He and his parents emigrated to the United States in 1884 and located in Osborne County Kansas. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the age of 15 years. He was united in marriage to Ada Hosier on August 25, 1915. To this union was born 3 children: Lawrence Hachmeister of Codell, Everett Hachmeister of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mrs. Lola Mae Ring of Lincoln, Nebraska. He engaged in farming north of Natoma for a number of years and after that operated a grocery store in Natoma. After a short illness Mr. Hachmeister passed away at Hadley Hospital at Hays, Kansas on June 9, 1953, at the age of 73 years, 3 months, and 2 days. Funeral Services were held in the Grade School Auditorium on June 12, 1953, with Pohlman's Funeral Service in charge. Rev. C. E. Bodenhammer of Codell officiated. Burial was in the cemetery at Natoma. He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, 7 grandchildren, one of which preceded him in death, two brothers, Will and Ferdinand; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lena Zeigler and Mrs. Mary Koelling, all of Natoma. His father, mother and 2 sisters and 2 brothers preceded him in death. [This was followed by a poem].
