The Pantagraph, Bloomington, Illinois, Tuesday, November 20, 2001: Heyworth- -John D Bicknell, 83, of Heyworth died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) at V.A. Illiana Health Care System, Danville. His graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, with the Rev. Gray officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Louis E. Davis Post 56 and the American Legion Post 635. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heyworth High School Marching Band. He was born Jan. 28, 1918, at Garrett, the son of William Kelly and Minnie E. Hays Bicknell. Survivors include one sister, Mary Ann (Charles) Gregory, Bakersfield, Calif. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; and special friends, the Jack Davis family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Beulah Rist and two brothers, Joe G. Bicknell and Hugh Bicknell. Mr. Bicknell was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Beich Candies. East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
