On the 1900 U. S. Census of Pleasant Grove, Floyd Co., Iowa, Harman Swain appears with his wife Clementine and children Lizzie, Jasper and Daisy. Harmon is a farmer. Harman and Clementine have been married 16 years and she is the mother of 3 all of whom are currently living.
On the 1910 U. S. Census of Riverton, Floyd Co., Iowa, Harmon W. Swain appears with his wife Clementine C. and children Jasper O. and Daisy C. Harmon is a farmer. Harmon and Clementine have been married 26 years. Clementine is if the mother of 3 all of whom are currently living.
Appleton Press, April 16, 1916: Death came to the relief of H. W. Swain on Thursday morning at 1 a.m. March 30, 1916, after a long illness caused from a cancer, lasting over a year. Members of his family were constantly at his bedside with every effort was put forward to ease his pain and make his last days on earth as peaceful as possible. Harmon William Swain was born in Belmont county, Ohio, July 22, 1856, but moved to Lynn county, Iowa when but a small boy, and later going on to Floyd county where he lived until coming to Appleton, Minn., Feb 20, 1914. On September 27, 1883, he was married to Clementina Brisco, of Pleasant Grove township. To them three children were born: Mrs. Royal O. Fox, Jasper O., and Daisy C., all of whom were with him during his sickness which he endured so cheerfully. He is also survived by one brother, Al. Swain, at Lone Rock, Iowa, now lying in a very critical condition. The funeral was held at the home on Saturday afternoon at one o'clock, the Modern Woodmen of Holloway having full charge of the funeral. Interment was made at the Appleton cemetery.
