Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Owens and Brumley Funeral Home. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Purdie Thompson was born Aug. 8, 1900, in Blooming Grove, but she was reared in Dawson. The family expresses special appreciation to Pacesetters Home Care and Hospice, Dr. Herman Rose, Rex Owen, Peggy Wade, Laverne Lott and all loyal and faithful friends of Birdville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by husband, Ramie Arnold Thompson, Sr. in 1987, son, R.A. Thompson Jr., four sisters and two brothers. Survivors: Son, Robert Thompson and wife, Mary, of Keller; daughters, Wynona Gipson of Houston, Virginia and Dr. L.A. Berry of Tampa, Fla. and Frances and Don Dunaway of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; brother, Dr. Gus Farmer and wife, Janie, of Dallas; sister-in-law, Lucy Bolton Farmer of Denton; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
