City Directory search of Omaha, Nebraska by the Douglas County Historical Society shows that in 1896 Joseph Dalton was a soldier residing at 3321 Grand Ave. In 1897 Joseph was an artist living at 2722 North 25th. In 1900 Joseph is a painter residing at 3823 Camden.

1900 U. S. Census at Douglas Co., Nebraska with wife Avis, and children Ruby, Margie, James and Maud. They are living on Camden St. and Joseph's occupation is decorator.

Omaha Directory in 1906 Joseph is a painter living at 705 S. 16th. His wife is listed in 1906 as Dalton, Mrs. Avis, furnished rooms 705 S. 16th.

On the 1920 U. S. Census of Chicago City, Cook Co., Illinois, Joseph and Avis appear at ED1190, page 2A. The census was taken January 6 & 7, 1920, approximately 5 weeks before Avis died. Joseph was born in US and his parents were born in Ireland. Joseph's occupation was painter of automobiles.

At the time of Avis' death, Joseph Dalton was the informant on her death certificate and his address was 508 N. State St., Chicago, IL.
